The romance novel is much maligned, stereotyped and for many it epitomizes the worst of the fiction writing category. However, this genre is the largest selling sector of the book market. If you truly desire to write such a book, it probably means that you're already familiar with this category of writing. And you may already know as well that most readers of romance novels are females with college degrees and most of them are happily married and read to pass their leisure time. Also, if you’ve read even one romance novel you know that traditionally, these books end with the modern fairy tale conclusion, an implied, “they lived happily ever after.” Perhaps those are just some of the wonderful reasons why you want to write your very own romance novel.

What If I've Never Written A Book Before?
It would be too easy to just say you begin at the beginning, but... well... you do have to. In part 1 of the book, you will have to approach the romance novel niche in marketing with fresh eyes. If you've read these books, then you've probably read them from the perspective of a “reader” and a “fan”. But this time, you're not only going to read these books, you're also going to examine and analyze them from the perspective of a writer and look at the elements that each book has and why they work so well.

The Art of Writing
Once you’ve comfortably completed Part I, you’ll move on to Part II where you begin to allow your creativity to shine through. You’ll begin to create your characters, where these people live, what they do for a living and most of all, why your reader should even care about them. Let’s face it. If your characters don’t feel real and your readers can’t connect with them, then you won’t have an audience. You will aslo have to create the conflict from which the emotional tension arises which, after all, is the spark that kindles that great romance!

What Do I Do After I Finish Writing My Book?
Every creative venture – to be successful – must have a business side. By the time you have a finished manuscript in your hand, you will have to find an agent, and a publisher. Don’t think for a moment that once you write your first book and it gets published that your desire to write just slips away – it only grows stronger!
